AbsorptionMap · Absorbed Aggression Zones

Stop seeing only pressure. Start seeing what it failed to move.

Every chart shows you pressure. What I cared about was the pressure that went nowhere. The spot where buyers or sellers leaned in hard and price just... didn't go. That's absorption. AbsorptionMap puts it on the chart: the level, the zone, how much got eaten, and the defense that ate it.

The moments that mattered most were the ones where price tried to move, and couldn't. So I built AbsorptionMap. Walter, founder of Flow.42

NinjaTrader 8 Futures · Real time tape Level 2 data supported

Absorption is pressure that couldn't finish the job.

Plenty of tools tell you buying or selling happened. Fine. I can see that on the tape. The question I actually care about is whether it did anything. Did price move, or did someone sit there and soak it up? AbsorptionMap marks the level, tints the defended zone, and shows how much aggression got absorbed against the visible defense that stood in its way. And when price later punches clean through a level, that marker is removed, so the only zones left on your chart are the ones where hidden liquidity actually held.

Read the fight, not only the candle

A candle can close strong and still be a candle that got absorbed the whole way up. The print looks clean; the fight underneath wasn't. AbsorptionMap lets you catch those moments and go back and study them, so you can tell a free push apart from a level the market had to grind through.

Price level and zone

The exact price where absorption was measured, plus the full zone that framed the event around it.

Aggression and defense

How much aggression got absorbed, set against the visible DOM defense that stood in its way, when the book data is there.

See defended levels

Cluster zones get tinted on the chart, anchored to the price where hidden liquidity stepped in. The level stays visible while it's active.

Read the order book

The DOM Confluence module compares current resting liquidity against a rolling baseline, so a "wall" only counts when it really is heavier than normal.

Catch it early

Four progressive stages, from the LiveWarning ring to the Confirmed diamond. You watch the level build, not just the print after it's done.

LiveWarning
earliest signal
Candidate
level active
Provisional
absorption likely
Confirmed
absorption proven

Four signal stages, one progressive read of the level: you watch absorption build in real time instead of waiting for hindsight.

Measure what was absorbed

The marker can carry the absorbed aggression right on its label. No more guessing whether a reaction was a shrug or a wall. You see how much pressure got taken in at that level, in numbers.

One diamond. Two colors. No repaint.

AbsorptionMap leaves your candles alone. It drops a single diamond at the exact price where absorption happened. Red-orange means aggressive buying was swallowed (bearish context); lime-green means aggressive selling was swallowed (bullish). A compact label shows the absorbed aggression in contracts. Once a marker confirms, it freezes. What you see in a journal screenshot is what was there when it happened.

What the diamond actually means

What it shows, where it's different, and how it fits the rest of your Flow.42 setup.

AbsorptionMap is a visual absorption tool for NinjaTrader 8. It finds the clusters where aggression piled up at one price, watches whether the level held, and marks the exact price with a diamond while tinting the defended zone. A DOM Confluence module adds order-book context, and four progressive stages (LiveWarning, Candidate, Provisional, Confirmed) let you watch the level build in real time instead of waiting for hindsight.

Most absorption tools mark every cluster that looked interesting and leave you to sort it out. AbsorptionMap doesn't. It shows where pressure was absorbed, the zone that mattered, how much aggression was taken in, and whether the order book actually defended it. It moves the event through four stages (LiveWarning, Candidate, Provisional, Confirmed). When price punches clean through a cluster, that event is disconfirmed and removed from your chart. Less noise, fewer false positives, and a chart that earns your trust on the second look.

No. It is not built to replace your decision. It shows defended areas and absorbed pressure so you can make a better decision. A bullish absorption marker means aggressive selling was absorbed. A bearish absorption marker means aggressive buying was absorbed. What you do with that information depends on your plan, location, risk, and market context.

ABS is the absorbed aggressor volume measured for that event. DOM is the visible defense liquidity recorded from the order book when that context was available. Together they help you understand both sides of the story: the pressure that came in and the visible defense that stood against it.

Early-stage rings are live by design. They refine themselves as new information comes in. The moment a marker reaches the Confirmed stage, its visual details freeze and never change again. What you see in a journal screenshot is what was there when the trade happened.

The core absorption layer runs on trade data alone, so tick-only feeds still give you usable signals. Level 2 adds the DOM Confluence check, which compares resting liquidity against a rolling baseline and makes the strongest signals even stronger. If you trade ES, NQ or anything else where Level 2 is available, plug it in. The difference shows.

Trade less. Trade better. Trade with clarity.

I'd rather see who's holding the line than sit there guessing why price won't move.
